Congress leader demands construction of Devak Bund

Excelsior Correspondent
SAMBA, Aug 28: Congress leader Dr Sat Paul has appealed Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control and Chief Minister of the State to take effective steps to construct concrete Bund right from Devak bridge to last point at the border at the earliest.
He also requested the Flood Control Department to depute their concerned staff to assess the damage of land due to recent floods and take immediate preventive measures to avoid further soil erosion. He also urged the administration to compensate the farmers whose crops got destroyed in the floods.
Dr Paul alleged that the recent rains have done a great loss of infrastructures laid down by the Government including Devak Bund which had been washed away by the rains since 2011 and recent floods in the Devak River has caused more damage to the Devak Bund and a portion of Bund from 1500 RD to 1730 RD has been completely washed away which has lead to erosion of about 15 Kanal of land where Paddy Crop had been cultivated.
Many VVIPS including Chief Minister visited the spot but did not do anything till date, he added.
