JAMMU, Feb 27: All India Backward Classes Union (AIBCU) today said that Congress never gave J&K OBCs their rights despite remaining in power in Center as well as State.
“Senior Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad had been at the top places at the Centre as well as in J&K but he never talked about the freedom of the people but continued the loot of constitutional rights of the State people which had a special status under Article 370,” said Prof Kali Dass, general secretary of AIBCU, while addressing a meeting of the Union.
He said a deputation of AIBCU met with Azad in 2012 at his official residence with full explanation of the sufferings of the State OBCs which went unheard. “In 2017 also, when a full delegation of Congress (with Azad as one of the members) came in Jammu under the leadership of the former Prime Minister Man Mohan Singh, we submitted them a memorandum highlighting our issues but nothing was done by Congress leadership to resolve our issues,” he added.
In an apparent reference to Congress party, Prof Kali Dass said those who did not allow freedom to OBCs since seven decades and set aside even the Apex Court’s judgment of 1992 on Mandal Report cannot now talk of freedom.
