JAMMU, May 21: Jammu Kashmir unit of the Congress Party today remembered former Prime Minister Late Rajiv Gandhi on his 33rd death anniversary, recalling his great contributions and highlighted his selfless services and achievements in the Nation building.
Led by JKPCC Working President Raman Bhalla, the senior party leader paid tribute to Rajiv Gandhi during a function organized in this connection at JKPCC headquarters in Jammu.
Paying his tribute, Bhalla recalled the services of Rajiv Gandhi as the youngest Prime Minister who gave the vision to the youth of the country of the challenges of the 21st century and brought IT and Telecom revolution, lowered the voting age to 18 years to empower the youths.

JKPCC senior vice-president Mula Ram termed the assassination of Rajiv Gandhi as an irreparable loss which could not be replaced by anything.
Those who paid tribute, included Ved Mahajan, Vinod Sharma, Hari Singh , Narinder Gupta, Pawan Raina, Taranjeet Singh, Narinder Sharma, Suresh Dogra, Thomas Khokhar, Vijay Sharma, Manmohan Singh, Gurbachan Kumari, Dwarka Choudhary, Madan Chalotra, Satish Sharma, Amrit Bali, Sandeep Dogra, Varinder Manhas, Ajay Kumar, Chander Shekhar, Darshan Verma, Daleep Kumar, Yash Sangral, Michael Wazir, Ravi Shastri, Bhanu Mahajan, Sandeep Dogra, Ramakant Khajuria, Ricky Dalotra, Dara Singh, Rakesh Sharma, Kapil Singh, Sahil Sharma, Bhavishay Sudan and others.
Paying tribute to Rajiv Gandhi on his death anniversary, senior Congress leader and CWC Member Tariq Hameed Karra said, that the martyrdom of Rajiv Gandhi can never be forgotten till this world exists.
“Rajiv Gandhi’s unwavering commitment to our Nation and his profound contributions have left an indelible mark on our society,” Karra said, adding, “Rajiv Gandhi’s enduring legacy continues to inspire us, reminding us of the cost of freedom and the enduring strength of our democratic values. As we reflect on his sacrifice today, we reaffirm our commitment to the principles Rajiv Gandhi tirelessly fought for.”
In a function attended by JKPCC Office bearers, DCC Presidents, Block President, frontal organizations and prominent party workers at Srinagar Party Office, floral tribute were paid to Rajiv Gandhi describing him as a man of development.
The leaders said that the selfless services and sacrifices of Rajiv Gandhi shall continue to lead the Nation on path of prosperity and equitable development of every section living in the country while highlighting the three tyre Panchayat Raj system gifted by the martyred leader to the Nation, which proved a milestone in the overall development and empowerment of people at village level and in far flung rural areas.
Terming computer science one amongst the big achievements, the leaders appreciated Rajiv’s sincere efforts to introduce computer science which contributed immensely to the development of the Nation bringing India at par with other fast developing countries in the globe.
Freedom Fighter Memorial Association (FFMA) also remembered Rajiv Gandhi on his death anniversary, recalling his great contributions and highlighted his selfless services and achievements in Nation building. Paying tribute during a function held today at office of FFMA, New Rehari Jammu, Chairman of the Association Rajiv Mahajan recalled the services of Rajiv Gandhi who gave the vision to the youth of the country of the challenges of the 21st century and brought IT and Telecom revolution.
Ved Gandotra, R C Puri, Prof S S Balwal, Thakur Karnail Chand, Sardar Rimple, Parbhat Kapahi, Bhanu Partap and others were present on the occasion and paid tribute to Rajiv Gandhi.
Congress Seva Dal paid tribute to former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi on his 33rd martyrdom day.
Describing him as a visionary and a leader of the people, Congress Seva Dal President Vijay Sharma Babbi said that he was a visionary leader who laid the foundation of modern India. The credit for taking the country to new heights in terms of communication, science technology, education, health infrastructure and defense goes to Rajiv Gandhi, he added.
