JAMMU, Dec 30: The Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) has strongly criticized the BJP-led Central Government for not fulfilling its promise to restore Statehood to Jammu and Kashmir in 2024.
The Congress termed this failure as “another betrayal” of the people of the region.
The JKPCC Chief Spokesperson Ravinder Sharma pointed out that despite repeated assurances from Prime Minister Narendra Modi, including statements in Parliament, the Supreme Court, and recent election rallies, the commitment to restore statehood has not been honoured.
Sharma highlighted the disappointment among the people, especially the youth, over the lack of progress.
“The Government in the Union Territory does not have the powers needed to address the issues of the people, particularly the unemployed youth and those working in temporary positions,” he said.
The Congress called on the Central Government to fulfill the demand for full Statehood without further delay to meet the expectations of the people and provide justice, especially for the unemployed and those in temporary work arrangements.
