JAMMU, Nov 8: A protest demonstration was organised by District Congress Working President Sumeet Magotra against the alleged failure of GMC Udhampur administration.
A number of Congress workers marched toward the office of Principal GMC. After being stopped by policemen, they started raising slogans against the GMC administration.
While briefing the media persons on the occasion, Magotra alleged that some doctors and staff of the GMC do not perform their duties sincerely and the senior doctors are barely seen on the duty. “Though the name of the hospital has been changed from district hospital to Govt Medical College, the bitter truth is that the premises doesn’t even has the facilities of a public health center,” he said and mocked that the hospital should be renamed as “referral hospital” as even small cases are being referred to Jammu by the doctors .
Later, Principal of GMC Udhampur also reached the spot and listened to the grievances of protesters. He assured that strict and prompt action will be taken against those who don’t perform their duties and necessary steps will be taken to solve the genuine problem raised by them.
On the assurance of the Principal and administration, Magotra called off the protest.
