JAMMU, Dec 30: Expressing serious concern over the continued detention and the treatment being meted to the detained political leaders, the JKPCC has written to the Lt Governor Manoj Sinha, seeking urgent appointment to discuss Katra situation.
The party has also conveyed to the authorities that a delegation of top Congress leaders has desired to visit Katra to meet the agitating people and family members of detained leaders.
In this regard an urgent meeting of senior leadership of Congress was held here.
The meeting was held under the chairmanship of PCC President Tariq Hameed Karra to discuss the current situation, following the detention of several political and other leaders of different shades supporting the ongoing agitation and bandh in Katra against the proposed ropeway project.
The leaders expressed serious concerns over the reports of ill-treatment to the detained leaders who are denied basic facilities and detained in overcrowded spaces with unhygienic situations.
The party has written to the Lt Governor Manoj Sinha, in this regard and have sought time for an early meeting, to discuss the current situation and the demands of agitating people.
Among others who attended the meeting included Tara Chand, Raman Bhalla, Th Balwan Singh, Chief Spokesperson Ravinder Sharma, former minister Yogesh Sawhney, I/C PCC HQ Ved Mahajan,Th Balbir Singh Ex- MLA and Rajnish Sharma Treasurer.
