Consider recommendations of Ashok Lavasa Committee: NMC

JAMMU, Jan 6: National Mazdoor Conference (NMC) has appealed to the Prime Minister and Union Finance Minister to consider the recommendations of Ashok Lavasa Committee to look in to the anomalies of lower class employees.
Addressing a meeting of NMC workers here today, under their President Subash Shastri said that the recommendations were to enhance salary of lower class employees from Rs. 18,000 to Rs. 21,000.
He also demanded hike in medical allowance of salaried and pensioners categories.
Shastri further said that several thousand daily rated workers are not paid regular wages.
He demanded their regularisation.
He further demanded release of 4 per cent DA in favour of Central and State Government employees and pensioners in view of rising prices of essential commodities, total exemption of DA from Income Tax, enhancing the wages of the daily rated workers to Rs 500 per day, declaring Jammu and Srinagar Cities as A1, issuance of regularization of orders of daily rated workers working in rural development department of Jammu region, setting up of labour welfare board and releasing of all pending wages of daily rated workers working in irrigation and flood control department, PWD, PDD, PHE and others besides setting up of wage head in each department of the State Government for regularly disbursement of their monthly salary were other demands highlighted in the meeting.
Among others who were also present on the occasion included Rajan Babu Khajuria, B.S Jamwal, Darshan Bawa, Madan Lal, Suraj Parkash, Ram Singh, Surinder Kumar, Bhupinder Singh, Ramesh Sharma, Darshan Lal and others.
