Consolidate efforts to set up its own campus for CUK: President

NEW DELHI, Feb 6: President Pranab Mukherjee, who is Visitor Central Universities, has underscored the need to further consolidate efforts for setting up of the own campus of the Central University Kashmir (CUK) with multidimensional facilities to boost academic culture and promote linkage with the community and society.
The President emphasized this during the two-day Conference of the Vice-Chancellors of the Central Universities held in the President’s House, here on February 4-5.
The Conference was also attended by Smriti Zubin Irani, Minister for Human Resource Development, Secretary, Additional Secretary and key functionaries of the President’s Secretariat. Secretary MHRD, Chairman UGC, Secretary General, AIU, Joint Secretary, MHRD, Secretary, UGC, leading educationists, leading scientists and leading Industrialists were also present.
The Central University of Kashmir was represented by Prof Mehraj-ud-Din Mir, officiating Vice-Chancellor, who presented the achievements and impediments faced by the University during the last one year.
The HRD Minister, Smriti Irani emphasized that the vacancies be filled up within the shortest and time bound framework.
During the Conference, Credit Based Choice System was given a top priority and it was resolved that a Common Minimum Curriculum be devised to ensure the proper implementation of CBCS and feasible transfer of the Credits from one University to another University.
It was also resolved that Massive Open Online Courses [MOOCs] should be launched and MOOCs in the blended form should be made operational.
CUK Officiating Vice-Chancellor, Prof Mehraj-ud-Din Mir also participated in group discussions on important issues. He highlighted the achievements of the University in general and faculty in particular in respect of quality teaching-learning process, research and out-reach activities. The difficulties faced by the University at different levels were also brought with the purview of the discussion.
