‘Oppn misleading people’

JAMMU, Oct 4: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today lambasted the opposition parties for misleading the people of the UT by holding the protest on October 10 in Jammu despite the fact that the efforts of Narendra Modi Government in restoration of peace in the UT have yielded results and J&K is fast treading on the path of progress and prosperity.

“When the whole of J&K was in deep turmoil, uncertainty and bloodshed, the leaders belonging to the Gupkar Alliance, never cared for the people’s welfare and never gave any call for “Dharna, Pradarshan”, to rid the people of uncertainty, BJP UT president, Ravinder Raina told reporters here, today.
Raina, who was reacting the opposition parties’ decision to hold protest on October 10 in Jammu said “When Jammu & Kashmir is on the path of progress and development, when the people of the region are welcoming the process of peace and progress, the Congress, NC, and PDP leaders are trying to vitiate the atmosphere by their Dharna, Pradarshan calls. Is it not the deep conspiracy to create the unrest for their individual and petty political interests?” said Raina.
He attacked the opposition parties over the October 10 protest call and said that NC, Congress, and PDP leaders under the Gupkar Alliance are engineering conspiracies against developing Jammu and Kashmir.
Raina, accompanied by MP (Lok Sabha), Jugal Kishore Sharma, former Dy. CM, Dr. Nirmal Singh, former Minister, Sat Sharma and former Minister & BJP National Executive Member, Priya Sethi said that opposition parties have planned a Dharna now but the people want to know that when J&K was in dangerous situation and turmoil, why they remained in deep slumber at that time and never raised voice for restoration of peace in the erstwhile State?
“Today when J&K is on the path of peace and progress, fast-paced development, and prosperity, the Gupkar leaders are plotting to create unrest with each passing day,. Feeling suffocated by the development, they just want to mislead innocent people’’, Raina said.
“Where were these leaders, when Gujjar Bakkerwal were fighting for their rights, Pahadi people were fighting for justice. The Congress, NC and PDP never came in their support. The leaders like Abdullahs and Muftis never asked for Dharna, or Pradarshan in support of OBC people who were fighting for their rights. West Pakistan refugees, Gorkhas, Valmiki, and many other communities were being denied basic rights but these leaders never supported their cause,’’ he added.
He said as the Modi Government is pursuing the agenda of development, the Gupkar leaders are getting unnerved. These people are in desperation after seeing that over two crore tourist footfall, progress and development from all sides? Except the opposition parties who looted the resources of J&K during their 70 yearlong misrule, people across faiths, communities, regions, and professions are satisfied by the development measures of Modi Government, Raina added.
“Schools, colleges and universities are open. The whole of J&K is working well, but these leaders are not able to digest the happiness of people’’, he said.
Raina further asked if opposition is so concerned for constitution, democracy and democratic institutions then why they boycotted the Urban Local Bodies and DDC elections meant for development earlier. These people never strengthened the Panchayati Raj system in the erstwhile State. Panches and Sarpanches were puppets in the system then. They always mislead the gullible population and misused the system for their own benefit.
“These parties are now creating false narratives to hoodwink the people of J&K”, said Raina.
