JAMMU, Oct 21: General Category People’s Front (GCPF), J&K has demanded constitution of General Category Commission in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
In a meeting of the Front held today under the chairmanship of Raj Kumar Banathia, the members discussed in detail the issues of people addressing the meeting.
Prof Yash Paul Sanson, president of the Front, decried discriminatory biased socio-economic and political politics of Government which led to marginalization and neglect of General Category, the majority community. He said that Front demanded Constitution of General Category Commission (GCC) which is demand of Swarn Castes.
Front strongly condemned willful and deliberate attempt of the Government to sideline General Category people and to appease others playing divisive politics of caste and religion. General Category Commission be asked to suggest the criteria for treating the poor, needy and discriminated sections of General Category as socially economically and educationally backward and to provide them equal opportunities, quotas, concessions and special privileges like others.
GCPF also condemned discrimination, neglect and marginalization of unreserved category which is going on unabated through the restrictions imposed on the application of basic fundamental rights. Government of India has been promoting castism and communalism through its socio-economic and political policies based on caste, class and religion. Front demanded an amendment in the constitution to ensure ‘Equal Rights and Equal Law for all’ through ‘Equality Act’.
Front has been pleading for universal equality and extension of all benefits, privileges, concessions guaranteed to reserved category and minorities to others. At the same time, Govt. of India should notify State level minorities and provide all the benefits of various welfare schemes to actual minorities in various States. Govt should solve the issue of reservation forever by ending it. Some immediate legal corrective measures be taken to end injustice done with General Category.
The Government of India should establish the supremacy of judiciary by implementing all its verdicts given on reservation. Over reservation in-group ‘c’ and ‘d’ posts be ended. There cannot be over-reservation at all.
