SAMBA, May 14: Apni Party (AP) provincial president and former Minister, Manjit Singh today urged Government to set up a committee to control the price rise of essential commodities particularly related to health/medical.
The former Minister, Manjit Singh said the price of essential commodities and health and medical has gone out of pocket of the common masses.
“It’s an agony that Government has become a spectator and no action against the black marketers has been taken which has put the masses in a difficult financial situation,” he said.
He said that the illegal profit makers have taken COVID medicines off the market which has contributed to the inflation of the rates of the essential commodities, medicines, and equipments related to Oxygen.
“The rates of Oxygen flow maintainers have also gone up,” he said.
In these circumstances, he said that the Government should take a serious review of the situation with the constitution of a High Level Committee and every district should also have a separate committee to check markets and ensure people get essential commodities.
He said that the Government should punish those involved in black marketing of essential goods, medical equipment and COVID medicines.
He further said that the rates of eatables and grocery items have also been hiked by the vegetable vendors and shopkeepers respectively and the administration has taken no measures to check such elements who have put additional burden on the common masses to earn profit even during COVID time.
“Many people have lost their jobs during the COVID-19 and lockdown period. It has weakened the economic status of the people,” added the former Minister.
He accused the Health Department’s policy has made the people to suffer as the COVID patients are not being admitted and advised by the hospitals to remain in home isolation. In home isolation, the health of the COVID patient gets adverse without proper monitoring. The hospitals are advising home isolation after shortage of beds and Oxygen, he added and demanded that there shall be proper Oxygen beds.
