JAMMU, Apr 2: SOS International–an organization for PoJK refugees today served an ultimatum to the UT administration to constitute a Judicial Commission within a week’s time to fix official responsibility into all lapses that led to targeted killings of Hindus in Rajouri district’s Dhangri village or be ready to face a legal battle in the court of law.
The organization also announced that it would approach the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha to submit a memorandum, seeking his personal intervention into the matter.
Chairing a meeting called by the victim families of Dhangri massacre and attended by local Sarpanches and Panches of the area, the SOS International chairman, Rajiv Chuni reiterated his demand for immediate constitution of a Judicial Commission headed by a retired High Court judge to fix responsibility into all lapses that led to selective killings of PoJK refugees and ensure that justice is delivered to the victims.
“The recent statement of the DGP that the terrorists who sprayed bullets and brutally killed innocent people have managed to escape to the other side of the border was quite unfortunate. It has created a lot of anguish and uncertainty among the victim families. The DGP should tender an apology to the victim’s families and sincere efforts should be made to identify, trace and punish the perpetrators of this heinous crime against humanity,” Chuni said.
“We will submit a memorandum to the LG and request him that the UT government should take all possible measures to apply balm on the wounds of victims by bringing the real culprits to justice. If our demand is not fulfilled within a week’s time, we will leave with no option but to move the court of law with a prayer to the judiciary for justice to the victims of massacre,” Chuni added.
During the meeting, the victim Saroj Bala, who lost two sons- Deepak Sharma (23) and Prince Sharma (21), minced no words to take on the UT administration for its failure to identify and trace the terrorists who executed the dreadful terror attack and killed innocent people in the village. She said security agencies have failed to deliver justice to the victim families.
“More than three months have passed but there is no clue about the perpetrators, who are still at large. We don’t need ex- gratia and jobs. We demand justice,” she said.
Satpal Sharma, who lost a son in the attack while his second son was rendered handicapped, regretted that the killers of innocent people were still roaming free and they have been waiting for the accused to be brought to justice.
Dheeraj Sharma, Sarpanch of Dhangri warned that they would return the ex- gratia amount to the same account where from it was credited if justice is not provided to the families. “We are being forced to launch an agitation as our demand for justice to victim families has not been taken seriously,” he said.
