Constitute Minority Commission for Christians: JKCA urge CM

JAMMU, Dec 18: Jammu and Kashmir Christian Association (JKCA) urged the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to constitute Minority Commission for the upliftment of the Christian community in the State.
A meeting of Jammu and Kashmir Christian Association was held under the chairmanship of its president Waris Gill, who while speaking said that Ministry of Minority Affairs has given due representation to the Christians of India in the National Minorities Commission.
In J&K, the Government has given the minority status to the Christians along with some other microscopic minorities like Muslims, Kashmiri Pandits, Sikhs and Buddhists, he added.
He said that so far no Minority Commission has been constituted in the J&K and urged the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to constitute the same at the earliest.
