Construction of Narol- Kanoyian tunnel under consideration: Gadkari to Khatana

JAMMU, Nov 3: In a significant development the Union Minister for Road, Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari has agreed to consider the proposal for construction of a crucial tunnel connecting Narol to Kanoyian in tehsil Mendhar of the strategically important border district of Poonch.
In reply to a representation by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP, Rajya Sabha, Gulam Ali Khatana, Minister for Roads, Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari said that matter is being looked into.
Gulam Ali Khatana, after a recent tour of district Poonch and representation by Vice Chairman, DDC Poonch proposed a tunnel for Narol to Kanoyian in district Poonch and urged him to take up the issue with Nitin Gadkari emphasizing the importance of constructing the tunnel to enhance transportation and accessibility to this border district, which plays a vital role in national defense and security.
The proposed tunnel is expected to significantly reduce travel time and improve the overall infrastructure in the area.
In response to this urgent plea, Minister for Road, Transport, and Highways, Nitin Gadkari has acknowledged the significance of the project and assured that the matter is being thoroughly reviewed by his Ministry. He expressed his commitment to ensuring the development and progress of border districts like Poonch and underscored the importance of addressing their infrastructure needs.
The proposed tunnel project, if approved and initiated, is expected to provide a safer and more efficient route for local residents, while also facilitating the movement of military personnel and equipment in the area.
