Construction of shopping complex at Central Park opposed

JAMMU, Oct 13: Association for Self Help and Awareness submitted memorandums to Ministers against proposed construction of shopping complex by Economic Reconstruction Agency (ERA) in the Central Park, Gole Market, Gandhi Nagar Housing Colony in violation of Master Plan/Land use.
While speaking, Captain Anil Gour, President, Association for Self Help and Awareness said that they have submitted memorandum signed by Doctors, Professionals, Bureaucrats and Businessmen to Minister for Urban Development Nawang Rigzin Jora, Minister for Planning and Development Ajay Sadhotra and Minister for Housing and Horticulture Raman Bhalla regarding construction of shopping complex by ERA.
According to memorandum, the association apprised Ministers that they are living in Gandhi Nagar Housing Colony for several decades eatablished by J&K Housing Department/Board, which is having approved and notified land use, he added.
ERA/ADB has reportedly planned to construct a huge shopping complex at the existing Central Park for vested interest of some business houses. Such construction if allowed will create lot of health and pollution problems for the surrounding population with no open space left for senior citizens, women and children for morning and evening walks, Gour said.
Through memorandum the association demanded instruction to be issued to ERA to shelve the project, he added.
