Construction on forest land demolished

JAMMU, Aug 3: The Forest staff of Bahu Range of Jammu Forest Division and its Anti- Encroachment Wing during operation, dismantled a construction at Batala Mohalla in Sunjwan on nearly 10 marla forest land.
The construction had been started by one Shahida Begum, wife of Ghulam Mohd Shah of Kishtwar, at present Batala, Mohalla Sunjuwan.
The operation was carried out under the supervision of Dr VS Senthil Kumar, Divisional Forest Officer Jammu and BM Sharma, Conservator of Forests East Circle, Jammu. The Range Officer Bahu, Ajit Chander directly supervised the operation.
When contacted the DFO mentioned that the encroacher claimed to have purchased the land from local people of that area and started raising the construction. Range Officer sent a complaint to Police Station for further investigation into the matter and file FIR against the encroachers.
The Forest Offence Report (FOR) for violation of Section 6 of J&K Forest Act has also been registered. The encroachers took advantage during Jammu bandh and started work. However, the attempt was foiled by the Forest officials.
In an other attempt at Sunjwan, the construction of plinth structure in Khasra No.371/356 was stopped by the Forest team and summon was issued by DFO Jammu regarding the attempt made by the encroachers.
