RAJOURI, Oct 15: Consumers facing acute shortage of ration in the town approached the administration to monitor the CAPD supplies as the distribution system was not functioning properly in the area.
A large number of rationees thronged the office of Tehsildar Rajouri on Monday and lodged a complaint that majority of the Govt ration depots were lying empty and the consumers were taking rounds to inquire about the supplies. They alleged that they also approached the concerned Tehsil Supply Officer but there was no improvement at all.
The consumers alleged that 15 days of this month have passed but the shops were still dry. No sugar is being provided since long and now on the Eid festival, there is no ration or sugar in the ration depots. Worst is the condition in rural area of district Rajouri. They pointed out that Assistant Director CAPD who has recently joined was not available therefore, they have approached the administration. It was also alleged that this has become the habit of some of the local dealers to cause deliberate delay in distributing ration. The public is forced to purchase from market and then over fifty percent ration quota is pilferaged in the black-market.
The agitated public also alleged that new ration cards were issued by the department several months back but they have been dumped by the dealers and not distributed to the public. Moreover, on the issue of carriage money, there is some internal dispute between the CAPD officials at Rajouri and the dealers and the consumers are suffering. They have sought the intervention of Director CAPD Jammu and Dy Commissioner Rajouri.
