Excelsior Correspondent
POONCH, June 6: Shamsheer Hakla Poonchi, a Gujjar leader has once again urged the Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti to pass a bill in the ongoing Session of Legislative Assembly to continue reservations in promotion of State Government employees belonging to Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe, Other Backward Classes and Resident of Backward Area communities of State.
Hakla said that in every sphere of life, reservation is the need of the hour and is a necessity for Scheduled Tribe, Scheduled Caste, OBCs.
Laying a specific stress on the matter, Hakla said the status of Scheduled Tribe granted to the Gujjar and Backward Community on April 19, 1991 by the Government of India has completed 25 years whereas the Government has not been implementing it in letter and spirit to give full benefit of ST status to the Gujjar and Bakerwal Community.
The Gujjar and Bakerwal Community of J&K is still socially, educationally, economically and politically lagging behind and backward.
