JAMMU, Oct 11: A joint deputation of J&K Contractor’s Coordination Committee (JKCCC) and PWD (R&B) Contractors Association met Minister for Works, Abdhul Rehman Veeri and urged upon him to withdraw the new circular issued by Director Codes, whereby it has enhanced the lower limit of E-tendering from one from one lakh to ten lakh.
The deputation was led by Balvinder Singh, general secretary, JKCCC and Narinder Gupta, president, PWD (R&B) Contractors Association, Jammu. Chief Engineer, PWD, Alok Mengi, Superintending Engineer, Sudhir Shah and Executive Engineer PWD(R&B) Div 1 were also present during the meeting.
Balvinder Singh submitted before the Minister that all the three reasons defined in the new circular on the basis of which it has been issued is totally baseless, as neither Executing Departments nor the contractors are facing difficulties in the implementation of previous circular. Moreover, huge State exchequer has been saved since the implementation of the old circular by the introduction of lower limit of E-tendering from one lakh upwards.
Singh and Narinder Gupta further submitted before the Minister that by enhancing the lower limit of E-tendering from one lakh to ten lakh will again promote the culture of Goondaism and back door entry of the blue eyed boys of some of the politicians.
The Minister, while justifying the logic putforth by the representatives of the Contractors association, assured them that he will definitely look into all aspect and shall definitely take some positive step in a shortest period.
Other prominent contractors who were present were Ayaz Ahmed Khan, Sharanjit Singh, Manmohan Singh, Chander Shekhar, Yunas, Mahesh Singh Kotwal, Surkhi Sharma, Ravinder Singh, Jasmeet Singh, Javed Akhtar and Jasbir Singh.
