Contractual Lecturers continue hunger strike for 410th day

JAMMU, Mar 30:  The ongoing chain hunger strike by the Contractual Lecturers (10+2) entered into 410th day today as there has been no response of the State Government towards their demand of regularization.
The agitating lecturers held a protest demonstration near the venue of chain hunger strike at Exhibition Ground Jammu. They raised slogans in support of their demand and also against the State Government.
These Contractual Lecturers are demanding regularization as per the Civil Services Special Provision Act 2010, a Legislature passed for the regularization of all the Ad-hoc/ Contractual/ Consolidated employees.
The gathering was also addressed by Arun Bakhshi, president of the Contractual Lecturers Association. He urged the Education Minister Altaf Bukhari, who also hold the portfolio of Finance Department, to fulfill his promise by taking their matter in the Cabinet with financial clearance for its final approval so that 10+2 Contractual Lecturers are regularized either by Govt order No. 1301 Education of 2003, Dated: – 31-07-2003 or in the light of Civil Services Special Provision Act 2010.
He also threatened to resort to extreme step if their demand is not considered by the State Government.
Meanwhile, the rotational hunger strike by these Contractual Lecturers was continued by Anil Kumar, Gurjeet Singh, Payal Rajput and Madhive Sharma.
