JAMMU, Dec 6: The Governor, N N Vohra, has appealed to the people of the State to contribute generously towards the Armed Forces Flag Day Fund and stressed the need for involving all sections of society for this noble cause. The appeal was made during the annual Armed Forces Flag Day ceremony held at Raj Bhavan, Jammu, today.
While interacting with the retired Army Officers present on the occasion, the Governor emphasized the importance of raising a large corpus of funds for promoting the welfare of ex-Servicemen and their families in the State. He observed that this is also an important occasion to remember our valiant soldiers who gave away their precious lives for protecting the territorial integrity of the nation.
The Governor lauded the crucial role of the Armed Forces, both during war and in peace time, and observed that their sacrifices are founded in their bravery, devotion and dedication. The Governor also stressed the need to effectively mobilize and gainfully utilize the vast potential of ex-Servicemen who reside in the State.
Present on the occasion were Rakesh Kumar Gupta, Principal Secretary to Governor; Major General N S Jamwal (Retd.); Major General Shamsher Singh (Retd.); Col J D S Kotwal (Retd.) and Brig. R S Langeh, Director, Sainik Welfare.
