Contribute in skill upgradation, employability: CS to Corporates

JAMMU, Nov 8: Chief Secretary Madhav Lal today asked various Public Sector enterprises working in the State to organize specialized programmes and training courses for skill upgradation and employability of youth.
“As part of your Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) you can contribute in a significant way in training our youth and ensure their placement”, he maintained.
Chairing a meeting on Skill Development of youth with representatives of various Public Sector enterprises including NHPC, IRCON, PGCIL and NHAI, Chief Secretary said that public enterprises must play greater role in training and recruiting youth from the State in their projects. He said that funds under CSR should be earmarked and also fully utilised for such purpose. He urged for developing a separate and structured programme as per requirements of the industry thereby ensuring that training and skill imparted to the youth results in their proper placement in the job market.
“A well thought out course content should be planned for imparting technical skills to the youth to overcome the existing skill deficit and shortage within the enterprises itself working in the State,” he said, adding that there should be close coordination between the Government Departments, training institutes and the public enterprises in this regard.
Detailed discussions were held on various aspects of the project and its successful implementation.
Earlier, a detailed power point presentation was made by nodal officer State skill development initiative Syed Jehangir Hashmi on the project and various skill development initiatives and targets fixed during the 12th plan period by the State.
The meeting was also attended by Principal Secretary to Chief Minister B.B Vyas, Principal Secretary PDD Sudhanshu Pandey and other senior officers.
