Convention held, issues confronting KP community discussed

JAMMU, Jan 9: One day convention-first of its kind of Kashmiri Pandit community members from district Kulgam was held here today and the issues confronting the community were discussed.
The convention saw a good participation of migrant Kashmiri Pandit community members from different villages of district Kulgam.
The convention was held under the chairmanship of Prof ON Koul, in which the speakers highlighted many burning issues being confronted by KPs hailing from Kulgam district in particular and Kashmiri migrants in general.
The speakers regretted that like others, migrants of Kulgam too are still not getting prompt response from administration over issues like removal of illegal encroachments of land and Hindu shrines in district.
They urged for political, administrative and cultural empowerment of Kashmiri Pandits community. They also said that there is much need for community to unite and strive hard for legitimate rights. They appealed to the Government to take Kashmiri Pandits community on board and address all their long pending issues and demands at an earliest.
The meeting concluded with a decision to frame a solid road map for Kulgam Biradari members in coming times.
An adhoc team was also constituted which has been assigned task to work on framing constitution, roadmap and other related aspects of Biradari. It was also decided to continue consultation process on broader note and involve maximum community members in ensuring long term welfare and settlement of exiled community.
