JAMMU, May 9: Provincial president of women wing of the Apni Party, Namrta Sharma while expressing serious concern over the deteriorating condition of the healthcare system in Jammu, has urged the Lt Governor’s Administration to take all necessary measures to save the precious lives of the people as the second wave has wreaked havoc across the country.
In an urgent letter flashed to the Lt Governor, Manoj Sinha today, Apni Party leader said the uncaring attitude that is being adapted by the Administration is making the Covid-19 patients to suffer profoundly as they are being buffeted from pillar to post. “Our healthcare system has utterly failed to deliver services to the public in this time of pandemic. The lackadaisical approach of the government has worsened the situation in Jammu wherein fatality rate has gone record high. Even the medical staff has been reported to keep patients lingering who are in need of beds and oxygen. For hours, in the medical ambulances, the patients are being kept to wait outside the hospital premises,” she regretted.
She further said Jammu division is currently grappling with the grave shortage of live saving drugs like Remdesivir, Oxygen concentrators and Vaccine darts. Unless the administration acts promptly, I fear the people will have to witness more gloom and despair in the coming days. The moral responsibility of such catastrophic condition will be on the shoulders of current administration who are at the helm of public affairs.
Namrta suggested that in view of the accommodation scarce in the hospitals, the doors of religious buildings and parking places needed to be opened up and converted into temporary medical facilities for the ailing Covid-19 patients.
