Convict awarded 10 yrs imprisonment for raping minor

KATHUA, Jan 25: Principal Session Judge Kathua convicted an accused of raping a minor and awarded him 10 years of imprisonment along with fine.
The convict, namely Naresh Kumar of Bani had allegedly raped the minor victim after kidnapping and taking her to Rajasthan in February 2018. In this connection, a case FIR number 16/2016 for offence Under Section 363, 376 and 343 RPC was registered at Police Station Bani.
After trial for three years and hearing both the sides, represented by Public Prosecutor Surinder Kumar and Advocate Sourav Mahajan on behalf of the accused, the Principal Session Judge Kathua awarded simple imprisonment of 10 years and fine of Rs 10 thousands to the convict for offence Under Section 376 RPC. For the offence Under Section 363 RPC, he was awarded simple imprisonment of seven years and a fine of Rs 5000 while for the offence U/S 343 RPC, the convict was awarded one year imprisonment and fine of Rs one thousands.
However, all the sentences will run concurrently and the imprisonment period already undergone by the accused, shall be set off against the period of sentence awarded to him.
