KOLKATA, June 18: Genset manufacturer Cooper Corporation is planning to enter the light commercial vehicle (LCV) market once the automobile industry recovers from the current recessionary trend.
Cooper Corp, which is also in the business of manufacturing engines for automobile firms, is ready with the prototype of the small commercial vehicle, Rajesh Walke, GM (engine business), told.
When asked about the the commercial launch of vehicle, he said it will happen once the industry comes out of recession.
Walke said Cooper Corp, a privately held corporate, had already invested Rs 400 crore in developing vehicles at its plant in Satara, Maharashtra.
Carrying capacity of the vehicle would be between 2.5 and 3.5 tonne, he said.
The Rs 1,000-crore company today launched silent generator sets in the 10KVA to 200KVA category which complied to the latest emission norms.
Walke said the company has a market share of less than 10 per cent in the Rs 3,000-crore silent generator market.
Cooper would soon launch gensets in the higher 250KVA and 500KVA segments, he added. (PTI)
