Cooperative Deptt committed to serve community at large: Secy

LEH, Dec 7: Secretary Cooperatives UT Ladakh Ravinder Dangi today said that Cooperative Department is committed to providing better service to the society by selling goods and medicines at lower prices without compromising on quality.
He said this while talking to media after visiting various centres of Cooperative Society in and around Leh in order to review the on-ground position of the consumer goods and other products for winter months of the Society. Dangi said the department is working hard to serve in the interest of the society by selling FMCGs and other products at lower prices as compared to the MRPs.
The Secretary Cooperatives also mentioned about plans being formulated to strengthen the Society at both center and block levels. He said that FMCGs are being sold between 8 to 17 percent less than the MRP, and special discount will be given on major items for coming Losar festival of Ladakh. He informed that the vegetables during the peak winter season will be brought in through Army cargo flights and private airline cargo service will also be used, if necessary.
Later, he visited the Cooperative Super-Bazaar, Cooperative Chemist Unit (adjacent to SNM Hospital), BDCS sale unit main-market, Cooperative Handicraft sale unit main-market, and various sections viz cable unit and sale unit of the TR (Tibetan Refugee) Cooperative Society at Choglamsar.
At TR Cooperative Center Choglamsar, the representatives briefed the Secretary about overall functioning of the Society in Leh and Changthang. They also updated him on some of the issues to which the Secretary assured of redress in phase manner.
Dangi was accompanied by OSD Dr Stanzin Thakchos, Assistant Registrar Cooperatives Leh Sonam Rinchen, Assistant Registrar Cooperatives Durbuk Tsering Morup, Manager BDCS Leh Tsering Gonbo, supervisors and auditors of the Department.
