Cooperative movement

Sir,
This has reference to the news item ‘Govt committed to revive cooperative movement in J&K’ DE Mar 21.
It may be said here that no sincere effort has been made by the successive State Governments so far to revive cooperative movement in the State. The Governments have doled out mere assurances and nothing else. Had something substantial been done by now, the cooperative scene would have been entirely different. Cooperative movement was without any doubt an earnest effort on the part of the Government to benefit rural poor people. The people had easy access to basic amenities at affordable prices.
These cooperatives received huge setback due to political interference. There is great scope for cooperative movement in the State right now, as our villages are yet to be connected to cities fully. They remain cut off for a pretty long time due to bad roads and inaccessibility. The people still depend on these cooperatives as they do not have malls and other big business establishments to provide them day to day items.
Yours etc….
