Cooperative Society properties encroached, occupied illegally

SRINAGAR, June 8: Government today said the properties of Cooperative Marketing Society have been encroached upon by locals and Police Department in three districts of Kashmir.
A building and land of Cooperative Marketing Society at Kupwara is under the illegal occupation of Police Department since 2005 and the matter is sub-judice, said the Government in reply to a question of MLA Aijaz Ahmad in Lower House.
The Government stated that 107 Cooperative Marketing Societies exist in the State having 374 employees. “However, three Cooperative Society properties have been encroached upon by locals at Kulgam and Baramulla and Police Department at Kupwara,” it stated.
“At Kulgam, four marlas of land has been grabbed by the nearby residents and the matter has been taken up with Revenue authorities. Moreover, eight marlas of land has been grabbed by the nearby residents of Baramulla and the matter stands taken up with the revenue authorities,” the Government informed.
