SRINAGAR, Oct 22: Police arrested three car thieves including a police constable and recovered a car snatched by them in Anantnag.
Police said that three persons snatched a Santro car bearing registration number JK03C/0364 from Iqbal Dar, resident of Takiabal, Bijbehara at Bijbehara. Police swung into action and intercepted the car at a naka checking at KP road, Anantnag.
Three persons Fayaz Ahmad Dar son of Muhammad Subhan Dar resident of Gadhanzpora-Bijbehara, Shabir Ahmad Baba son of Muhammad Yousuf resident of Gund Nowroze-Bijbehara and Muhammad Altaf Wani son of Ghulam Ahmad resident of Naina Batapora, Bijbehara were arrested and the stolen car was seized by the police.
FIR 303/2012 under Section 392/RPC and 7/25 IA Act has been registered in this regard and investigation has been initiated.
Police said that Muhammad Altaf Wani is reported to be working as constable in the police department and is presently posted in Srinagar District. Altaf is absent from his duties since last one month and has been suspended. Departmental enquiry has been initiated against the accused constable.
