Cop, civilian killed in multi-vehicle crash

SRINAGAR, July 17: In a tragic incident, a Traffic cop and a civilian today lost their lives in a fatal mishap involving multiple vehicles in the Shalteng area here.
The collision occurred near Petrol Pump Maloora, leaving two people dead and another injured.
According to officials, the crash involved a load carrier with the registration number JK01U-0917, a tipper bearing the number JK01K-8744, and a Maruti Car with the registration number JK01H-7822.
The deceased traffic cop has been identified as Zahoor Ashraf, a resident of Pattan Baramulla, while the civilian victim was identified as Javid Ahmad Bhat, a resident of Maloora Srinagar. The injured person has been identified as tipper driver Mohammad Yousuf Bhat.
The crash occurred with great impact, resulting in severe damage to the vehicles involved and subsequent loss of lives. The Emergency services rushed to the scene promptly to provide assistance and transport the injured to the hospital.
The police also arrived to investigate the accident and manage the traffic flow at the spot. Eyewitnesses reported that the collision was devastating, expressing shock and grief at the loss of lives in the tragic accident.
Preliminary reports suggest that overspeeding and reckless driving might have played a role in the collision. However, a detailed investigation is underway to ascertain the exact circumstances leading to the accident.
Meanwhile, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha expressed grief over the tragic road accident in Srinagar today in which one SPO Zahoor Ahmad Khan and a civilian lost their lives.
In a condolence message, the Lt Governor said, “Anguished by the loss of lives due to a tragic road accident in Srinagar. My thoughts are with the families who have lost their loved ones. Praying for the speedy recovery of those injured. I pay my homage to SPO Zahoor Ahmad Khan who lost his life in the line of duty. I have instructed the authorities to provide all necessary assistance to the bereaved families”.
