Cop, his two wives held with narcotics, cash

JAMMU, Nov 7: Police in Janipur area today arrested a cop and his two wives along with 33 grams of heroin-like-narcotics, 22 mobile phones, and some cash.
A police official said that acting on credible inputs, house of Crime Branch constable Parwaiz Khan of Azmatabad Thannamandi, Rajouri, at present Gujjar Mohalla, Janipur, was raided, resulting in seizure of 33 grams of the heroin-like-narcotics, 22 mobile phones, a weighing machine, Rs 25640 in cash, foil papers, and other paraphernalia used in making small bits of heroin.

The consignment was meant to be further sold among the innocent youth of the area gaining undue profits from sale of narcotics, he said.
Besides the constable, the police official said his two wives, identified as Nargis Bhat and Parveen Akhtar, were also arrested, as narcotics was also recovered from their possession.
They were also assisting their husband in selling the drugs among the youth, he added.
Accordingly, the accused have been booked in case FIR number 128/2024 under Sections 8/21/22/29/27A of the NDPS Act registered at Police Station Janipur and further investigation taken up.
The arrested cop was posted in the Crime Branch and has been placed under suspension with immediate effect, added the police official.
Meanwhile, police have also launched financial investigation into the matter as the arrested cop has acquired two houses at Janipur and accumulated huge property.
Police are also in process to attach the illegitimate property acquired by the cop through the proceeds of the narcotics.
