JAMMU, Feb 13: A policeman was critically injured after a pistol he was carrying, accidentally discharged and struck him below his heart in Preet Nagar area of Digiana on city outskirts.
Police sources said that the injured cop has been identified as Selection Grade Constable Paramjeet Singh (55) son of Sham Singh, resident of Preet Nagar, Digiana. They said the mishap occurred when he was (in civil dress) along with his friends in a car at KC Colony (Preet Nagar), Digiana and was allegedly cleaning his pistol.
“The friends of the cop shifted him to Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu, where his was stated to be stable,” sources said, adding, Trikuta Nagar police had taken cognizance of the matter and investigation were underway to know the circumstances under which the mishap occurred.
