JAMMU, Jan 11: A cop suffered injuries after a police team aiming to arrest dreaded criminal Lau Gujjar came under attack at Waziru Chak area in Bishnah area here today.
Sources said acting on specific inputs, a team of police officers led by SP Headquarters, with assistance from SDPO RS Pura and SHO Bishnah, reached Waziru Chak area around 5:30 am to arrest Gulzar Ali alias Lau Gujjar, who is wanted in several cases, including of attempt to murder, rape, criminal intimidation, NDPS, and attacks on police personnel.
“But unfortunately, the police team encountered a barrage of stones from the house where Lau was believed to be hiding. Bansi Lal, one of the police personnel, suffered injuries during the assault,” sources said, adding, “to disperse the crowd, the police had to resort to firing gunshots in the air. Regrettably, Lau managed to escape yet again from the clutches of police”.
The injured cop, Bansi Lal, has been hospitalized, and a comprehensive manhunt has been initiated to capture the elusive criminal.
