Cop killed, 13 injured in two road accidents

JAMMU, June 10: Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) of J&K police was killed while 13 others were injured today in two separate road mishaps in city outskirts.
According to a police spokesman, a rashly driven tipper bearing registration number JK02AP-6921 this afternoon hit a scooty bearing registration number JK02BH-6485 at Kunjwani Chowk and left the scooty rider seriously injured.
The grievously injured scooty rider, who was identified as ASI Sudershan Kumar (55) son of Ram Paul, resident of Ward No 4, Billawar (Kathua), was rushed to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Jammu, where he was declared as brought dead by the doctors. After completing all medico-legal formalities, the body of the deceased was handed over to his legal heirs for last rites.
“The deceased ASI (Belt No: ARO-80566) was posted at DPL Jammu”, the spokesman said, adding, a case in this connection was registered at police station Gangyal and the tipper involved in the mishap seized while the accused tipper driver managed to escape from the spot.
Meanwhile, a speeding bus bearing registration number JK02E-9161, which was on its way from Jammu to RS Pura, turned turtle near Brij Nagar in Miran Sahib area, this evening. In the mishap, about 13 persons were injured. They were shifted to GMCH Jammu for treatment.
The injured persons were identified as Sham Lal son of Madan Lal resident of Kullian, Arun Kumar son of Ramdev of Miran Sahib, Suresh Mandal, son of Devanand of Maralian, Tarlochan Singh son of Inder Singh of Model Town (Gangyal), Balbir Singh son of Charan Singh of Bajechak, Ramesh Chand, son of Lekh Raj of Madyal, Deena son of Banarsi Dass of Chattha, Ajay Kumar son of Chandu Ram of Bihar, Raj Kumar son of Teru Ram of RS Pura, Narinder Singh son of Ishwar Singh of Gura Slathia, Raj Kumar son of Daya Ram of Simbal Camp, Parveen Kumar son of Bachchan Lal of Diwangarh (RS Pura) and an unknown male.
Miran Sahib police had registered a case in this connection and started investigations.
