Cop killed in PCR Jammu firing

JAMMU, Nov 9: A police constable was killed in an accidental firing inside the Police Control Room (PCR) Jammu this afternoon. He has been identified as Gurjit Singh, a resident of Tral, who was posted in Indian Reserve Police (IRP) 14th battalion.
Police said Gurjit Singh was reportedly cleaning his carbine when two shots went off from the service weapon causing him grievous injuries. He was shifted to Government Medical College (GMC) hospital, where he was operated.
However, he succumbed to his injuries late this evening.
Body of the jawan has been sent to mortuary for post-mortem. It would be handed over to family members of the jawan after post-mortem.
Police was investigating the case though any foul play has been ruled out.
