Cop killed, son injured in car-truck collision

JAMMU, Dec 15: A cop of J&K police was killed while his 10-year-old son was injured today in a road mishap in Narwal area of city outskirts.
According to a police official, the mishap occurred early this morning when due to poor visibility in view of foggy conditions, a speeding truck bearing registration number JK14E-4826 hit a Maruti car (registration number JK02AB-0604) from back side at Narwal Chowk.
“In the mishap, a Senior Grade Constable of J&K police namely Farman Ali (Belt No 574/J) son of Feroz Din, resident of Narwal Bala and his 10-year-old son identified as Shafiq, who were travelling in the car, got serious injuries”, the official said, adding both the injured were rushed to Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu, where Farman Ali was declared as brought dead by the doctors while condition of his son was out of danger.
He said after completing all medico-legal formalities the body of the deceased was handed over to his legal heirs for last rites. “The deceased cop was presently posted at police post Nehru Market”, he disclosed.
In this connection, Narwal police had registered a case under relevant sections and started investigations while both the vehicles involved in the mishap were also seized.
