UDHAMPUR, June 14: In a bizarre incident of homicide, a Police Constable was ‘unintentionally’ pushed to death by a teenage boy, who was confronted by the deceased at Jaganoo, under the jurisdiction of Police Station Udhampur, this afternoon.
The deceased cop was identified as SgCt Constable Veer Singh (42), son of Rattan Singh of Patiali Dhanal, Ramnagar, who was presently posted at Police Post Kakryal, Katra. He died after being allegedly pushed down from a culvert by accused Kuldeep Kumar alias Deepu (17), son of Darshan Kumar of Barmeen, Ramnagar who was accompanying a 16-year old girl of the area.
The incident took place around 3 pm when the accused along with his girl friend was stopped by the deceased cop in the name of ‘checking’. Sensing some trouble because of being with his girlfriend and got puzzled, the boy allegedly pushed the cop, who was standing on corner of a culvert and fell down. His head struck with a boulder and he reportedly died on the spot.
Troubled over the unintentional murder, Kuldeep Kumar telephonically called his two friends who reached the spot. However, before they could escape from the spot, some locals reached there and called Police, which took custody of the trio besides shifting the dead body to hospital for postmortem.
After preliminary investigation, Police arrested the accused Kuldeep Kumar besides registering a murder case against him but released both his friends. After completion of all the formalities and postmortem, body of the deceased cop was handed over to the family members.
