Copper futures up on spot demand

NEW DELHI, Sept 26:  Copper prices moved up by 0.82 per cent to Rs 428.65 per kg in futures trade today on pick-up in demand even as metal weakened overseas.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, copper for delivery in November was up by Rs 3.50, or 0.82 per cent, to Rs 428.65 per kg in a business volume of 1,707 lots.
The metal for delivery in February next year contracts too gained Rs 3.45, or 0.80 per cent, to Rs 433 per kg in a business turnover of 11 lots.
Marketmen attributed the rise in copper futures to raising of bets by participants following uptick in demand from consuming industries at domestic spot markets.
Globally, copper for three-month delivery ended down 0.1 per cent at USD 6,450 per tonne on the London Metal Exchange (LME). (PTI)
