Cops arrest 4 smugglers, rescue 89 bovines

RAMBAN, Mar 11: On the directions of SSP Ramban, Anuj Kumar, Police here today foiled a bovine smuggling bid and rescued 89 bovines after arresting four cattle smugglers and seizing four vehicles involved in the crime.
Acting on a specific tip about transportation of bovine animals, Police teams from Police Stations Banihal, Batote, Gool and Ramsoo intercepted four vehicles and individuals transporting bovines to Kashmir.
Upon inspection, cops found that 89 bovines were loaded in four vehicles in utter cruel manner without any provision of food and water.
The transportation of animals was in violation of the set norms and even lacked permissions from the competent authority.
The vigilant cops rescued all of the 89 bovines under operation ‘Kamdhenu’ and registered FIR with number 32/2024 at Police Station Banihal, 38/2024 at Police Station Batote, 22/2024 at Police Station Gool and 28/2024 at Police Station Ramsoo under Sections 188 IPC and under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act.
The investigation has been initiated into these cases.
