Cops rescue 16 bovines, 2 held

RAMBAN, Apr 7: Police here today, under the supervision of SSP Ramban, Anuj Kumar, foiled a bovine smuggling bid and arrested two smugglers, rescued 16 bovines and seized two vehicles involved in the crime.
Cops from Police Station Ramban led by SHO Ramban during vehicle checking duty at NHW Naka intercepted a vehicle bearing registration number JK19A-5498 and during its checking found seven bovines loaded inside in a cruel manner which were being transported illegally.
On this Police arrested Shabir Ahmed, son of Nazir Ahmed, resident of Bhatti, Govindpura, Ramban from the vehicle.
Meanwhile, cops from Police Station Ramsoo led by SHO Ramsoo intercepted a vehicle bearing registration number JK02AW-3519 and during its checking found nine bovines loaded in a cruel manner.
On this cops arrested Shakeel Ahmed, son of Farooq Ahmed, resident of Kokarnag, Anantnag from the vehicle.
In this regard a case in FIR number 73/2024 was registered at Police Station Ramban and an FIR with number 44/2024 at Police Station Ramsoo under Sections 188 IPC and under Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act.
Two vehicles involved in the crime were seized.
