Cops rescue 18 bovines, smuggler held

JAMMU, Nov 25: Police here today at Nagrota arrested a bovine smuggler and rescued 18 bovine animals.
During the intervening night of 24/25-11-2023, cops at Naka in Ban Toll Plaza conducting traffic checking of vehicles coming from Jammu and moving towards Kashmir.
During the checking of a truck bearing registration number JK19/0353 driven by Farooq Ahmed, son of Atah Mohd, resident of Sher Bibi, Banihal, District Ramban, police found 10 bovine animals loaded improperly in a cruel manner.
Driver of the truck was arrested on the spot.
After this another truck bearing registration number JK02AL/2195 was stopped but the driver fled away from the spot taking the advantage of darkness.
The vehicle was loaded with eight cows in cruel manner which were rescued by the cops.
In this regard police has registered FIRs with numbers 490/23 and 491/23 U/S 188 IPC 11 PCA Act and started investigation.
The whole operation was held under the supervision of SHO Nagrota, Inspector Vishav Pratap Singh.
