JAMMU, Jan 17: Principal District and Sessions Judge, Kathua, Vinod Chatterji Koul, who is also Chairman of District Legal Services Authority, has constituted a core group for the help of cross border firing victims.
The group was constituted in compliance to the directions of Acting Chief Justice Mohammad Yaqoob Mir, in terms of Section 12(e) of J&K SLSA Act, 1997 to ensure immediate help of Government and Non-Government agencies to the victims.
The group will supervise the distribution of relief material to victims, construction of temporary shelters, transportation of victims to safer places etc. The core group shall consist of Dinesh Gupta, District Mobile Magistrate (T), Kathua, Assistant Commissioner (R) Kathua, SDM Hiranagar, CMO Kathua, Tehsildars of Hiranagar and Mahreen.
Principal Sessions Judge Kathua has directed that the core group shall report progress. In addition to the core group, District Mobile Magistrate (T) Kathua and retainer lawyers shall organize Legal Awareness Programmers in the relief camps on the rights of the victims.
A temporary legal core and support center has also been established at Government Higher Secondary School, Hiranagar for providing assistance and help to the needy victims.
