UDHAMPUR, Oct 11: The core group constituted by the Chairman, District Legal Services Authority, Principal, District and Sessions Judge to assess the grievances of the natural disaster and rescue and relief measures being undertaken by the Government and the Non-Governmental Organizations visited various flood affected villages.
The core group headed by
CJM Jatinder Singh Jamwal along with Sub Judge Ramnagar and members of Bar Association Ramnagar visited Amroh and Ghordi-Khas villages in tehsil Ramnagar. The core group also visited Chenani along with munsiff and members of Bar Association, Chenani. The core group interacted with the residents of villages Sewana, Sarar, Marothi, Matlaba, Nagolta, Basht, Kalwalat and Sudhmahadev.
During the interaction, the people complained that only tarpauline has been made available, which is not sufficient in any manner to accommodate the families of the affected people. They also complained about the continuous closure of various important link roads to different villages. They added that many schools are functioning in unsafe buildings and the possibility of any mishap may result therefore was not ruled out. The failure of the Electric Department to restore the power was also brought to the notice of the core-group.
However, the biggest problem/complaint which was made by the inhabitants of all these areas and the people staying in the relief camp at Panjar, set up for inhabitants of the worst affected village of Saddal, is that so far the free ration as directed by the State Government has not been supplied to them.
Due notice of the grievances projected by the affected people was taken by the core-group and the same have been conveyed to the Deputy Commissioner Udhampur and it has been impressed upon the administration that the matter may be taken up with the concerned departments/agencies for redressal at the earliest. Special emphasis has been made to ensure implementation of the order relating to providing of free ration to the affected people and monitoring thereof in order to obviate the possibility of any pilferage of food-stocks being release for the affected people by the Government.
