JAMMU, Dec 3: An open public darbar was held today in Sector 1 of Ward Number 42 by Corporator Vijay Choudhary in order to listen to the grievances of the residents.
Choudhary Manmohan Singh, former Mayor Jammu, was the special invitee on the occasion. The darbar was held to understand the problems of residents regarding cleanliness and sanitation of the ward.
People complained that there has been no proper system of maintenance of roads. The drains and lanes are broken, they overflow during rains, they remain blocked and there’s no proper cleaning schedule.
Choudhary said that the waste pickup trucks comes only thrice a week, which should come at least on alternate days and the manpower provided is also very limited. Moreover, because of the absence of funds from Government, they will focus on what resources they have. She instructed the Sanitary Inspector and Supervisor present that the cleaning staff will not abstain from their duties and there will be no unexplained leaves or holidays by them.
She said that the de-silting of drains will start as soon after arrangement of more manpower. Choudhary asked the people to help maintain the cleanliness and keep an eye on the sanitation staff to see if they are present daily and if not people must inform her about the workers who don’t do their duty.
Choudhary said that she will form sector wise advisory committee to check the discrepancies in the sanitation process, to hear all the complaints in weekly meetings and to welcome suggestions regarding complaints, mainly to secure smooth process of development in all the sectors.
