NEW DELHI, June 13:
Prime Minister Narendra Modi today reviewed the progress of the flagship schemes implemented by the NDA Government in the last four years and pressed for early resolution of grievances of beneficiaries.
A detailed presentation on the ongoing flagship schemes of the Government was made at the meeting of the Council of Ministers here this evening.
These schemes include Mudra Yojna, Jan Dhan Yojna, Ujawala Yojna and Digital India.
The Prime Minister, sources aware of the deliberations said, was of the view that stringent follow -up action was required to ensure that the beneficiaries continue to gain from the schemes.
He said the follow-up should necessarily include grievance redressal to ensure that the beneficiaries can raise their concerns and complaints.
Modi, the sources said, was of the view that stringent follow-up helps in identifying the shortcomings as also allow beneficiaries and grassroots-level officials to suggest ways to improve the final product.
The PM has all along stressed the need to make the rural populace aware of the various schemes of the Government. He has often mentioned that ministers, MPs and MLAs are the best vehicles to take the schemes to the grassroots level.
The meeting was also informed about the ‘Gram Swaraj Abhiyan’, which has been described as a movement initiated to take the fruits of development to the poorest of the poor in 16,850 villages from April 14 to May 5 as a tribute to B R Ambedkar.
Various teams had ventured into villages and ensured complete coverage of 7 leading Central Government schemes.
During 21 days of the Gram Swaraj Abhiyan, 7.53 lakh Ujjwala connections were distributed; 5,02,434 households were electrified under Saubhagya Yojana; 25.03 lakh LED bulbs distributed across 16,682 villages; immunisation of 1,64,398 children and 42,762 women under the Indradhanush Mission was undertaken.
From April 14 to May 5, 20,53,599 Jan Dhan beneficiaries were added; 16,14,388 Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana beneficiaries were added and another 26,10,506 beneficiaries were included under the Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana. (PTI)
