Councillors claim corrupt practices in JMC under Mayor’s patronage

JAMMU, Mar 31: Two Councillors of Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) Amit Gupta and Gorav Chopra have claimed corrupt practices at JMC under the alleged patronage of the Mayor.
In a press conference here today these Councillors said that common people face harassment due to these corrupt practices at JMC.
“We urge J&K LG, Manoj Sinha that on one side authorities are working on developing Jammu as smart city but on the other hand some officials at JMC make the life of common people a hell,” Gupta said.
He also said that JMC personnel are targeting locals in the name of taxes and Chalans and the money is being misused.
“The transport wing of JMC has completely failed on ground in the last 2 years,” Gupta maintained adding that JMC has more than 200 vehicles and bills here are released and cleared in wrong ways.
“We have also written to JMC Commissioner in this regard but till date got no response so we want LG to intervene as the Mayor too is mum on this issue,” Amit Gupta said.
Congress Councillor, Gorav Chopra said that Mayor and Commissioner feel such issues are of least importance to them.
He also sought details about spending of budget that was given under Swach Bharat Abhiyan.
The Councillors claimed that some JMC officials are working at the same place from years have made nexus for doing wrongs.
