Kargil, Oct 9: The District Administration Kargil today successfully completed the vote counting for the by-election of the Thangdumbur Constituency, part of the LAHDC, Kargil at Suru Valley SubDivision.
A total of 2,201 valid votes were counted. Following the tally, Jammu and Kashmir National Conference candidate Syed Ahmad Razvi secured 1,395 votes and was declared the winner. Independent candidate Mohd Javad received 788 votes, while 17 votes were cast for NOTA.
The counting process was conducted under the supervision of Additional SP Kargil, Nitin Yadav; Election Officers, Magistrates and Counting Supervisors, along with Observers and Returning Officers/Assistant Returning Officers from the respective constituencies.
Counting began early in the morning at the Counting Room in Suru Valley SubDivision, Sankoo, with all standard procedures and protocols followed to ensure a smooth execution of the counting process. This was followed by the declaration of the results.
The Election Authority congratulated the winning candidate and appreciated the cooperation extended by all voters, political parties, candidates, Ladakh Police, polling and counting personnel, observers, transport stakeholders, senior officers of UT Administration, and the media for the smooth and transparent conduct of the election process.
The coordinated efforts of all concerned officials facilitated a fair and transparent conduct of the by-election for Thangdumbur in LAHDC Kargil.
The Election Authority conducted the by-election for the 21-Thangdumbur LAHDC Constituency on October 5, 2024, with a voter turnout of 75.52 percent.
