Country yearning for Modi: BJP

JAMMU, Oct 20: BJP’s announcement of Narendra Modi as its Prime Ministerial candidate has electrified and enthused entire nation cutting across all segments, faiths and regions, said BJP Member of Parliament & J&K Prabhari Avinash Rai Khanna while addressing one-day meeting of State office bearers, senior leaders, MLAs, district and Morcha presidents at Nagbani near here today.
The meeting besides Avinash Rai Khanna was attended by State President of the party Jugal Kishore Sharma, leader of Legislative Party Ashok Khajuria, National Executive Member Shamsher Singh Manhas, State general secretary (organisation), Ashok Koul, party MLAs- Sukhnandan Kumar and Sham Choudhary.
While addressing the meeting, Avinash Rai Khanna said that Narendra Modi’s clean image and as an able and efficient administrator has aroused great hopes in the common man who has been suffering oppressive and corrupt governance by Congress-led UPA at the Centre. The BJP has always believed in keeping national interests above party interests and this culture has ensured its national leader’s support to it, he added.
Referring to the State, Khanna said that recent developments have proved to be turning point for the BJP. BJP played a crucial and positive role in taking on anti national elements responsible for Kishtwar and Rajouri episodes. It was because of the party’s tough stand that MoS Home had to resign. Besides party fought to seek justice for Rajnesh Sharma a Jammu boy killed in Ram Munshi Bagh Police Station Srinagar.
Jugal Kishore Sharma, in his address, while appreciating the efforts and work of party’s rank and file, stated that the challenges facing the party are daunting which need sustained and intensive efforts. He added that the people are fed up with the utter corrupt culture of Congress’ UPA and state coalition and have developed healthy regard for BJP. This is to be converted into electoral gains. The people are of the considered view that only BJP is the desired alternative. He also drew attention towards the soft approach policy on Pakistan, price rise, unemployment and mis-governance.
Ashok Khajuria briefed the meeting about the just concluded Assembly session and said that Valley -centric Government gagged the opposition and instead of utilising the session for positive proceedings, digressed into sterile issue of General VK Singh’s utterance and maligning the security forces with Congress’  full backing.
The proceedings of the meeting were conducted by State general secretary, Rajiv Jasrotia while Kavinder Gupta presented vote of thanks.
