UDHAMPUR, Oct 12: In a tragic incident, a young couple and their teenaged niece drowned at Garh Nallah in village Garh in tehsil Majalta, here today.
The deceased were identified as Bishan Singh (40), son of Munshi Ram of village Garh, his 36 years old wife Bimla Devi and niece Arti Devi (16), daughter of Hans Raj of Marta.
The mishap took place when the trio was on way to home from forest area after feeding their goats and sheep. The girl suddenly slipped into Nallah and couple too jumped into water to rescue her but could not succeed and ultimately all three drowned.
Later, the locals and police fished out bodies of the deceased after three-hour long efforts.
The tragic incident has shocked the entire village and its adjoining areas while MLA Ramnagar, R S Pathania, visited the bereaved family and appealed the administration to provide relief to next of the kin of the deceased.
